Senior's Day

This event was started by our Club in 1998. Its intent was to remember and honour seniors for their hard work, dedication and foresight in participating and planning in our community over the years. Our first effort was around the time of the 80th anniversary of the end of World War One and the Armistice on Novemeber 11th,1918.... a time when Newfoundland suffered terribly.

Our club partners with the Seniors Resource Centre to organize the event. They invite people from their Friday Friendship Club. This group is quite mobile and relatively active.

Each year, on the Tuesday closest to Remembrance day, our guests, are taken on a bus tour around the city and then attend a special luncheon hosted by our Rotary Club in their honour. Special thanks to Metrobus, who have provided, without charge a bus and driver for two to three hours each year.

Our guests have a good time, are a chatty group and have told us that they really enjoy that special day we at our club put aside for them. Oh yes, the members of our Club quite enjoy having the Seniors with us as well.
