The auction tradition was rekindled in our club in 2005 with the St. John’s Northwest Gala Dinner and Auction.  It has grown over the years and is now one of the premier Charity events held annually in St. John’s, consistently raising well over $150,000 to put back into our community.

The Rotary Gala Auction is typically held in the winter months has had various themes over the years.  In most recent years we have had a St. Patrick’s Day theme, an evening filled with wonderful music and dancing. The evening typically starts with a Champagne Reception.  Guests then enjoy a delicious meal while bidding on a wonderful array of auction items during a live and silent auction.  Diamond Design is on hand and a piece of jewellery is raffled along with a Rolex watch.  With entertainment provided throughout, guests finish the evening dancing the night away to a live band.  This is an event you don’t want to miss!

We have partnered with various organizations over the years such as; the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Care Foundation, Elaine Dobbin Centre for Autism, Ronald McDonald House, and Hope Air.  As a partner these organizations were a beneficiary of the funds raised at our Gala Dinner and Auction and we were proud to support the work of these great organizations.

A BIG thank you to the following sponsors who have supported us for many years; The Ellsworth Group, RE/MAX, The Telegram, Coast 101.1fm, Flowers River Lodge, Vogue Furriers, and Diamond Design. These businesses, along with many others, have helped make our Gala a big success!

Thank you to our devoted and hard-working Auction Committee that continues to raise the bar year after year:

Co-Chairs: Charlie Stacey and Jim Burton

Committee members: Claude Sullivan, Tom McCaughey, Andrea Stack, Heddy Peddle, Gail Gosse, Wendy Scammell, Liv-Terese Martyn, Norma Summers, Greg Pike, and Craig Huxter.
