The Rotaract Club of St. John’s was chartered as the Rotaract Club of Memorial University in September 2009. The club is sponsored by the five local Rotary clubs (St. John’s Northwest, St. John’s East, St. John’s, Avalon Northeast and Waterford Valley) making us true "partners in service" and key members of the Rotary family. Rotaract is a Rotary-sponsored service club for young people ages 18 to 30. The club quickly developed into a busy and successful group, and in December 2013 the club changed its status from a university based club to a community based club. This change has allowed the club to diversify its membership by attracting more young professionals to join the club and the Rotary family.

Since the change to a community based club, the Rotaract Club of St. John’s membership has grown to over 40 members. Members of the club have attended several district and international Rotary events including the annual district 7820 conference, 2010 Rotary International Convention in Montreal, RYLA North America in Washington, DC, and Interota – the international Rotaract conference held every 3 years. Since its inception, Rotaract has raised over $20,000 for various local and international charities, awarded 3 Paul Harris Fellow’s, been awarded the Presidential Citation in 2014 and 2015, held numerous successful service projects, and continue to support fellowship within the club.

As one of Rotary's most significant and fastest-growing service programs, with more than 8,400 clubs in about 170 countries and geographical areas, Rotaract has become a worldwide phenomenon. They currently meet on Monday’s at 5:15pm. Follow them on Facebook (Rotaract Club of St. John’s) and twitter (@RotaractStJohns) for updates on meeting locations, guest speakers, and upcoming events.
